EQUALITY LEAGUE YOUTH COUNCIL

Equality League is developing and equipping young athletes to lead the charge for gender equality. Through cutting-edge training and targeted advocacy campaigns, we are mobilizing the next generation to challenge discriminatory policies, protect athletes from abuse, and demand equity in every arena.

We launched our pilot Youth Council in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. In a matter of months, they crafted a letter to the U.S. Congress, called on its members to support Senate Bill 2330 “Empowering Olympic, Paralympic, and Amateur Athletes Act”, and saw it passed by both the Senate and the House. It was signed into law by the president on October 31, 2020.

Congress appointed a Commission to study the system and, in March 2024, the Commission delivered their findings and recommendations. The EQL Youth Council will advocate in support of specific reforms that improve the power and protection of athletes by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
